REDWOOD ADU
Arcata, CA

Nestled among towering redwoods, a thoughtfully designed accessory dwelling unit (ADU) was seamlessly integrated into a heavily wooded parcel. Site constraints, including underground utilities, presented challenges that shaped the layout, ultimately resulting in a one-story, one-bedroom retreat.

Echoing the architectural style and materials of the main residence, the ADU harmonizes with its surroundings. Inside, the flexible layout accommodates a variety of needs, serving as a guest house for visiting family, a home office, and a private retreat. Raised and vaulted ceilings enhance the sense of openness, creating a bright and airy living space within the forested setting.
